Vintage Designer Handbags Online

VintageHeirloom.com is an online store based in London that stocks authentic vintage Chanel, Louis Vuittion, hermes and many more brands. The site specialises in vintage bags that are in excellent condition. What makes VintageHeirloom.com different from many other vintage stores is that they guarantee the authenticity of their handbags. VintageHeirloom.com are suppliers to Harvey Nichols and Asos. When you say vintage a lot of people automatically jump to the conclusion that it's pricey, when in fact you can get a vintage Chanel for less than the price of a new one. VintageHeirloom.com is definitely worth a look if your in the market for a new bag. Below are just some of my personal favourites from their current stock.

How to spot a fake Longchamp Le Pliage Bag

The longchamp Le Pliage bag is one of the most popular bags out there, it is also one of the most copied. I hope the below tips will help you when buying your Le Pliage bag.

1. Material - A real Longchamp Le Pliage bag is made of lightweight waterproof nylon and should appear matte. A fake bag will look shiny and thick.

2. Leather Flap - An authentic Le Pliage bag is made of Russian leather and has a diamond pattern. A fake one will have a fish scale pattern. An authentic Le Pliage has the jockey logo embossed on both the leather flap and the snap. The photo one the left is a fake and the right is real.

3. Backside of leather flap - The jockey logo should be indented and you should be able to feel it by running your finger over it. The hairs should be short and it should look smooth. On a fake the hairs will be long and the flap will look hairy.
The photo on the left is real and the right a fake.

4. Stitching - the front of the leather flap will have beige stitching and the back will have brown stitching. A fake bag will have white stitching everywhere.

5. Made in China - Longchamp has outsourced most of their production of their bags to China and Tunisia. Hence, don’t be alarmed if you see that your bag is made in China.

6. The Zipper - it should be embossed with YKK and T. The zipper should say Longchamp above the jockey logo and 1948 below it. The real one will be detailed and a fake will seem to blend into itself.

Valentino Rock Stud Cage Wedge Sandals

With Summer just around the corner we will all be pulling out the sandals (hopefully). These sandals are casual yet sexy, they are incredibly glamorous yet edgy. Ok, maybe they are not the sandals you would wear walking around a city all day while on holiday but from online reviews that I have read they are actually quite comfortable. This is because of the cork wedge which makes them light and springy. These shoes are somewhat reminiscent of the gladiator sandal trend which swept the fashion world in 2009. These shoes are for sale on shopbop.com for nearly 50% off and are now €360.

As much as I love the Valentino sandals even the sale price is a bit out of reach for me. If your looking for a perfect alternative I think these sandals may be for you. The Antibes sandals from heels.com cost just €40. The sandals are almost identical with only a few minor differences between the heels.

    Beware of Fake Sunglasses

We have all walked down that street whether at home or on holiday and seen a stand of 'Chanel' and 'Dior' sunglasses. If you're like me and long for the brands but sadly don't have the wallet to match I'm sure you will have been tempted. You buy them knowing they are fakes of the designer versions but what many people don't know is the danger of wearing these sunglasses.

These fakes don't provide adequate UV protection or they may have none at all. Always look for the CE mark on sunglasses this shows that they comply with European standards. If your sunglasses have no UV protection you would be better off to go without sunglasses. In bright sunlight, your eyes will try to protect themselves from too much UV light getting in by shrinking the size of the pupils. But when you out on sunglasses they shade your eyes and your pupils dilate (open up). If your sunglasses have no UV protection the harmful UV light will be flooding in, putting you are risk of Photokeratitis (sunburn of the eye), Cataracts and Pterygium. I have decided to leave out the pictures but if your interested they are only a google search away.

Knockoffs are typically made from nickel and are usually plated over. This cheap plating deteriorates fast and can cause skin allergies and other problems. Along with UV protection quality sunglasses also have an anti-reflection coating which reduces eye strain.

Moral of the story - Health is more important than fashion and sometimes you do get what you pay for.

    Balmain Harlequin Jeans

Forget denim and coloured jeans this season it's all about monochrome. These jeans feature Balmain's signature motocross-style stitching. Ok you may think I'm a little crazy but when you think about it these jeans are a statement piece and should be teamed with a block colour top. These Balmain jeans are available from net-a-porter.com for €1040. To be honest I think these jeans are overpriced and they certainly wouldn't be on my shopping list if I had that kind of money.

Has nuts as they may seem jeans can actually be worn from day to night, It all depends on what accessories you choose to wear. The jeans below are from boohoo.com and cost €38. The resemblance is striking and the only difference is the different stitching style.

I love the way Anja Rubik wears these jeans. She keeps everything simple and let's the jeans make the statement.
