Dubai Must Do - Desert Thrill Tours

Dubai is a glittering jewel in the middle of the desert with a wealth of different experiences and activities to fill your time with. On my recent trip to Dubai I partnered up with 'Desert Thrill' to explore the best Dubai and the UAE have to offer. Our tour guide for the two days was Mehmood. He’s accommodating, well-versed in English, super friendly and extra nice. Desert Thrill offer a wide range of different tours and experiences. Each tour offers a unique experience that you'll never forget.

Dubai Desert Safari

I cannot describe how excited I was to go on a desert safari experience in Dubai. It is a one thing that everyone had recommended doing. I was lucky enough to partner up with Desert Safari Thrills for this experience.

Having picked us up from right outside our hotel we set off on the trip to the desert. Once we arrived, our brilliant tour guide Mehmood, turned the music up, asked us to buckle up and gave us the most thrilling ride around the desert's sand dunes. It was an experience like no other I've ever had and genuinely felt like being on a roller-coaster.

After coming down from the high of dune bashing, we made a quick stop in the middle of the desert for a photo op. Then we were off to the desert camp where there were more photo ops, camel rides, quad biking, sunset in the desert and traditional entertainment. After finishing all the activities outside, enter the main camp for a BBQ buffet dinner.  While waiting for the food, you can do henna painting or relax at a shisha smoking facility.  Dinner was served at around 7pm and while eating, you’ll be entertained by belly dancing performances and others.

This tour really is great value for the experience you get. It's one activity that really immerses you in Dubai's culture.

Abu Dhabi Day-Tour

The following day we again had the privilege of spending the day expiring with Mehmood and Dubai Desert Thrills, this time off the Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and a city that blends modern with tradition. Just a short hour and a half drive from Dubai, Abu Dhabi is definitely worth the day trip.
First stop upon arriving in Abu Dhabi was Yas Island. Yas island is home to a large mall as well as Ferrari world and Warner Brothers Theme Park. Ferrari Wold is the largest indoor theme park in the world and home to the fastest roller-coaster in the world, quite apt really! Considering how hot in gets in the UAE it’s quite clever that the theme park itself is build indoors.

Next stop was the Louvre Gallery. I’m slightly ashamed in myself that I did not know before this trip that there was a Louvre outside of Paris. And the UAE Louvre certainly is a contrast to the Paris original I know so well. This gallery is built in the sea, meaning it as an air of Bond villain lair about it. The building is an art piece itself, surrounded by glittering blue water.

Once we arrived in Abu Dhabi city first star was the Emirates Palace. The Emirates Palace is a 7-star hotel know for its opulence. The Hotel was originally a palace for the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi so it’s interiors are truly regal in nature. Many of the interiors are 24-karat gold painted, with lavish textiles and chandeliers everywhere. The Emirates Palace is one of the most expensive hotels ever built – costing $3B billion. Everything about this hotel is over the top – there’s even a gold ATM in the lobby!

To get an idea of what Abu Dhabi and even the UAE was like before the oil boom the Heritage Village is worth a visit. The Heritage Village is a recreation of a traditional village with ancient craftsmen.

A must visit when in Abu Dhabi is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. This Mosque – inspired by the Taj Mahal is one of the largest in the world. It is an architectural masterpiece which combines symmetry and unity with beautiful results. The Grand Mosque is also home to one of the largest chandeliers in the world, encrusted in Swarovski crystals.

We ended our day with Mehmood with a sunset trip to Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain. Jebel Hafeet is a Mountain on the border of the UAE and Oman. From the top of the mountain you have a panoramic view across the 2 countries.
